BRAD KOETSIER
Brad, a lifelong resident of Grand Rapids, has built extensive connections in the athletics and fitness industries. With over 18 years of coaching experience, he has worked with individuals of all ages, skill levels, and post-rehab cases. Brad's passion lies in helping people find internal motivation to achieve their goals and become stronger.

MEL AGEE
Mel's fitness journey began with competitive swimming, soccer, and volleyball. After college, she became a certified kickboxing instructor and trained with Tran's Martial Arts & Fitness Center and completed Level 1 & 2 certification. Mel's love for obstacle course races led her to complete a 2X Trifecta and compete in the OCR World Championships. Her diverse background and passion for fitness drive her pursuit of new challenges.

NIKO SMITH
Niko has extensive knowledge in fitness and nutrition and is pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He has built a solid foundation in fitness over two decades, gaining experience in diverse settings, including commercial gyms, CrossFit centers, and sports-specific training.
Beyond the gym, Niko treasures time with his family, exploring new places, and the occasional weekend golf game. His fitness journey fuels his drive to inspire clients with the same passion for pushing their physical limits.

ALYSSA LEAFERS
Alyssa is a graduate of GVSU with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a minor in psychology.
Alyssa's passion for basketball in high school transitioned into a dedication to health and fitness during her college years after starting to hit the gym regularly. Her true joy lies in working with athletes, assisting them in achieving greater speed and strength. Alyssa's genuine enthusiasm for helping others is evident in her delight when witnessing people succeed.

BRENNA VANSOLKEMA
Brenna is a GVSU graduate with a degree in clinical exercise science.
While attending GVSU, she interned here at Coachman and fell in love with the mission and community. Fitness has always been a huge part of her life, playing basketball, softball, and tennis. She is excited to share that passion with others and work with high school athletes and adults. When she’s not coaching or training, you can be sure she is playing with her chocolate lab puppy, Hank.

MELISSA BUSSA
Melissa's journey into physical activity began early, running alongside her dad, sparking a lifelong passion for fitness. Her high school years saw her deeply involved in sports. Melissa's desire to empower others led her to coach Girl's tennis at South Christian.
Over the years, she has taught Spin, Boot Camp, Lift, Tabata, Yoga, and more. She firmly believes that you are mentally and emotionally healthy when you're physically healthy.

COURTNEY BELTRAN
Courtney holds a degree in Athletic Training from MSU and developed her passion for fitness while working as an athletic trainer during her undergraduate years, collaborating closely with MSU football, rowing, and track and field teams. In 2016, Courtney ventured into NPC bodybuilding, achieving remarkable success with second-place finishes in novice and true novice categories and a first-place victory in her open class.

ALEX ISSA
Alex is a Hope College graduate with a degree in Exercise Science. Alex has had a passion for fitness since he could pick up a dumbbell. That passion grew each off-season as he played collegiate football at Hope College. Alex regularly competes in powerlifting competitions and has won multiple Amateur American Powerlifting Federation competitions in the 220 lb class, including State, National, and World competitions.

BRADY VIS
Brady is a Concordia University Ann Arbor graduate with a bachelor's degree in Sports and Entertainment Business. He has played sports his whole life (baseball, basketball, and football) and was a wide receiver on the football at CUAA for four years there.
He loves working with athletes and seeing their success at the gym and on the field. He loves to watch sports, especially if Michigan plays, fish, and golf. Favorite quote: "Great things come from hard work and perseverance. No excuses." - Kobe Bryant

Coach Bradi's journey began in college when she discovered her love for exercise through Billy Banks' Tae-Bo videos (you know the ones). Fast forward to raising three girls, she swapped the videos for the gym, finding it to be a sanity-saver.

As her kids grew into teenagers, Bradi sought a new purpose. She realized that becoming NASM-CPT certified would allow her to merge her two passions - social interaction and exercise - into a fulfilling career.

NICK ROMAN
Nick is a Grand Valley State graduate with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.

His journey in promoting wellness began during his years as a physical therapy technician, where he witnessed the transformative power of tailored fitness programs. When he is not dedicated to helping others achieve their health goals, you'll often find him on the ice, playing hockey, perfecting his swing on the golf course, or whipping up delicious and nutritious meals in the kitchen.

Robert, a former multi-sport high school athlete from Muskegon, MI, completed his collegiate career with remarkable achievements. He earned accolades such as D2 All American, All Region, and All GLIAC while obtaining his bachelor's degree at Davenport University.
After graduating, he pursued professional training, fueled by dreams of becoming a pro athlete. Equipped with years of knowledge, Robert launched a career aligned with his lifelong passions.

Chloe is a graduate of Cornerstone University with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Sports Performance and a Master's degree in Exercise Science.

During her college years, Chloe played basketball and volleyball. She currently serves as the Strength and Conditioning Coach, Teacher, and women's Varsity Assistant coach at Grandville HS. Her commitment lies in shaping and enhancing the athletic journey of students, instilling excellence in both physical education and sports performance.

RUTH BARKEL
Meet Ruth, a passionate health advocate with 16+ years of coaching experience and a degree in Exercise Science from Calvin University, dedicated to empowering clients to reach their wellness goals. Specializing in weight management, she provides the tools and support necessary for sustainable behavior change.​ When she is not in the gym, Ruth enjoys spending time with the family, cheering on her children in sports, and exploring the great outdoors, from camping trips to cruising around the Silver Lake Sand Dunes.

BRYCE MANDELKA
Bryce is a proud graduate of Grand Valley State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. Bryce’s passion for fitness stems from his baseball background. After injuries ended his collegiate aspirations, he became dedicated to helping athletes prevent setbacks and reach their full potential.

Bryce combines his expertise and personal experience to create tailored programs that enhance performance and reduce injury risks. Outside the gym, he enjoys sports and outdoor activities with friends and family.

SARAH BRUMMET
Sarah holds a bachelor's degree in Clinical Exercise Science from GVSU and has a strong volleyball background, playing competitively for 8 years and coaching for 6, including as an assistant coach for Grand Valley’s Men’s Club Volleyball Team.

Her passion for fitness grew during her volleyball career and her internship here at Coachman, where she discovered a love for the community and culture. Now a dedicated trainer, Sarah focuses on helping both adults and athletes reach their fitness goals. She is committed to fostering an enriching, inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

BETHANY JONES
Bethany, a proud West Michigan native, is an Olympic Weightlifter and coach passionate about helping others grow stronger, both physically and mentally. With nearly six years of coaching experience, she combines her teaching background and love for fitness to inspire and empower her community.
When she’s not coaching or lifting, Bethany enjoys unwinding at home with her beloved pitbull, Rio.
